Bhagavad Gita Blog

  1. Describe ways in which you feel like Arjuna.
    1. I felt like Arjuna because I do not always want to do my chores but I know that it makes my mom happy when I do and it gives me good karma and helps out my family. This applies to other things too, such as doing my homework, going to practice, cleaning my room. I do not want to do them at first, but after I do the activity, I am glad I did it.
  2. How could you specifically apply the message of theBhagavad Gita?
    1. I can apply this message because if I do my dharma, which is my chores, then I will not only make my mother happy, but I will take care of any bad karma.
  3. How would the ancient Indian perspective of the Bhagavad Gita be VERY different than the 21st Century American perspective of doing one’s duty?
    1. Americans do not really think about it and enforce the principal, they put many things off or have other people do things for them if they do not want to do them. Whereas, the ancient indians believed that in order to have good karma for their next life, they needed to take care of their dharma in this life.
  4. Now, venture back to ancient India. Think of a way the Bhagavad Gita could be used as a tool of oppression?
    1. It could be used as a tool of oppression because ancient leaders could make people do things that they do not want to do, such as work harder and longer, with the thought that they would get rewarded in their next lifetime.

Feng Shui

I decided to Feng Shui my car. It was dirty and needed cleaned, there were clothes, shoes, books and many other things everywhere. Cleaning my car out allows for Chi to roam freely throughout the space and not be blocked by the mess that was there before. Chi can now move gently through the environment and not be blocked by any clutter that was there before, therefore it will not have any negative effects. This also relates to the five elements because the metallic color of the car stands for strength and independence, and the brownish color represents the earth and stability. Some of the nine areas of Bagua are represented as well. For example, the metallic and grey look stands for travel and compassion (which is ionic because it is my car).

Before

After

I am very happy that I cleaned my car because now I do not have to deal with the stress of knowing it is dirty.

The Taoist Walk

During the walk, I felt at peace (and cold). The course was very pretty and relaxing, with a lot of nice flowers. The most powerful sensation to me was the many wonderful sounds. The sound of the leaves blowing in the wind, the sound of animals scattering in the leaves, and the sound of birds and bugs moving and chirping. I have not walked that part of the path before, but I am glad I did because it was very pretty. You could smell the various smells of flowers and weeds, you could feel the cool wind on your skin but it all made me feel at peace. This can be related to Taoism because the walk made me feel in sync with nature, like I was a part of it and at complete peace.
